Default Retro Game Of The Day! CHUCK ROCK

Released 1992

Description

Chuck Rock is your typical average cave man. He likes to spend his Sunday afternoons watching football and drinking beer. Unfortunately, his peaceful existence is interrupted one day when his wife, Ophelia Rock, is kidnapped by the village wierdo, Gary Gritter. So, Chuck is rather upset about this whole situation and you have to help him make things right.

In Chuck Rock you must guide Chuck Rock through five stages of prehistoric pitfalls and perils in order to rescue his wife Ophilia from the clutches of Gary Gritters. You'll have to get through 19 levels in five bizarre worlds, through the jungle, in a volcano, a primordial swamp, the Ice Age, and a dinosaur graveyard, fighting everything from dinosaurs to boogie men as you pursue Gritter.

Chuck can walk, jump, and swim, and he can and lift and throw heavy rocks. He can use the rocks to chuck at dinosaurs or as stepping stones to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. His other weapons include his feet, which when jumping kick, and his trademark rounded belly, which he can use to butt his enemies.

Chuck Rock spends most of his time in this game performing the ordinary tasks of walking, ducking, jumping on platforms, and battling enemies. Occasionally, however, he must execute certain special maneuvers to get past obstacles. He will use alligators as catapults and snakes as extending platforms. He will hop on frogs, which enable him to hop in water. He will even allow woolly mammoths to suck him into their trunks and shoot him through the air!

Throughout the game, Chuck can pick up chicken legs, lemons, ham hocks, turkey legs, fish, pig heads, and other food items for extra points. Hearts are good for extra energy. At the end of each level, Chuck must face a giant dinosaur boss.

Chuck Rock features:
  • 19 levels in five worlds.
  • Utilize Chuck's special moves to defeat enemies.
  • Enlist the help of friendly animals to perform certain tasks.
  • A wide variety of foes that will stand in your way.
  • Awesome graphics and animation.

Since I've spent all day playing this I thought I'd remind you all of CHUCK ROCK. He definatly rocks. Been playing the SegaCd version emulated on my GP2X but it was released on a load of different systems. Still looks great after all this time. If you haven't played it download it now below. It's for windows and it's freeware....

I still play all the old stuff on emulators. Microprose Golf is one of my favourites along with Championship Manager 93 on WinUae. Oh and Microprose Grand Prix and Vroom Games were so much simpler and addictive in the old days. Try Bear Bovver on the Spectrum for addictiveness
by the way Dava I have Monkey Island 4 here for you m8 just need somewhere to put it
