Heath Ledger found dead in New York

Heath Ledger, the Australian-born actor, has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence in what was a possible drug-related case, the New York Police Department said.

He was 28. A police spokesman said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the apartment that is believed to be his home.
The housekeeper went to tell Ledger that the masseuse had arrived and found him dead on Tuesday afternoon, Paul Browne said.
Ledger was an Oscar nominee for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain and had numerous other screen credits.
The Perth-born star was considered one of the finest young actors of his generation. .
New York police spokesman Paul Browne said that he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3.26pm, and added that the death was “possibly drug related”.
He said: “He was found unconscious at the apartment and pronounced dead. “We are investigating the possibility of an overdose.”
Ledger split up with his wife and Brokeback Mountain co-star Michelle Williams in September last year. The couple had one daughter, Matilda, together.
Ledger was most famous for his appearance in the emotional film Brokeback Mountain in which he played a cowboy who has a love affair with another cowboy on the ranch.
His performance earned him “Best Actor of 2005” from both the New York Film Critics’ Circle and the San Francisco Film Critics’ Circle.
Last year he was one of six actors to portray different sides of singer Bob Dylan in the film I’m Not There.
He started acting on Australian children’s television when he was 13 and had recently played The Joker in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight.
Ledger was in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, directed by Terry Gilliam. Ledger and the actress Michelle Williams ended their three-year relationship last summer.

They say now it might have been flu medication and sleeping pills, in which case thats sad, if its drugs, i'm not that bothered.

There's actually been a lot of deaths been attributed to flu related drugs. Not many make as much of an impact. The press and general media make mucho dollar from advertising. Cough medicines can cause heart failure but it's being kept a bit quite. Wonder why.... Over the counter drugs are far more damaging to the body than most illegal substances. I must admit I got bored with two guys bumming each other after a while but you do need to be good actor to take it up the pipe I guess... At least he died without a runny nose. I hate that.

There was talk of it being an accidental overdose, a mixture of anxiety, flu and Insomnia medication seems to be the cause.
One sad thing is that a group the Westboro Baptist Church who actually own a website called www.godhatesfags.com have decided to picket Ledgers funeral because he made a film where he portrayed a homosexual.
They've also done other classy things like picket American Soldiers funerals and memorials etc because they firmly believe the wars in the likes of Iraq and Afghanistan weren't caused by terrorism they were actually caused by homosexuality, that's right folks it wasn't Bin Laden and George Bush's little man syndrome that caused these events it was in fact the gays.
